12 year old, Kade S. (pictured with his mother) of Southern Utah, lands his first buck from the 2017 rifle hunt and from looking at the smile on his face, I’d say he looks pretty happy with the results. Way to go Kade!!
Kade was using a pair of 10×42 binoculars, a harness and a riflescope made from Henry Pahvant.
I love to see these younger kids get excited about hunting. What a great experience. It was the same for me when I was growing up. I would always look forward to hunting season. Waking up early in the morning, putting on hunting gear, driving out to that special spot and glassing these magnificent animals. Seems like yesterday, I was on my first hunt as a 12 year old with my Dad. He taught me how to listen to my surroundings, how to be quiet and be patient. Sometimes that’s really hard for a kid to do, but it paid off.
Some of my best memories are hunting with my Dad. Just the chance to be outdoors with nature and wildlife always put a smile on my face. These animals are truly fun to watch.
We asked Kade what his favorite part was of the trip and he said, “skipping school and knowing that I’m going to have some yummy jerky pretty soon that I can share with my friends.” We also asked his mother since this was his first year, how he liked hunting. She said, “He’s hooked! He absolutely loved it. Hunting is something we enjoy doing as a family, so we had a lot of fun. We just love to be in the mountains.”
Well Kade, we wish you well on your next hunting expedition and hope you continue to enjoy your Henry Pahvant binoculars, harness and rifle scope.
